Integrating Your System With AlexaUpdated 3 months ago

The AutoSlide, MultiDrive, or AutoSwing can be wirelessly integrated with Alexa through the AutoSlide skillset (available in the Alexa app skill library). This enables you to change the mode of the system and open/close the door using Alexa voice control. Note that Alexa routines can be used (and are recommended for custom voice commands), but the routines must be voice-activated for security purposes.

For Alexa integration to work,

  • Your AutoSlide must have Bluetooth capability. The MultiDrive and AutoSwing include Bluetooth capability by default.
  • The AutoPlus Gateway must be plugged into a live Ethernet port and power.
  • Both the system's Bluetooth and the AutoPlus Gateway must be enrolled in your AutoSlide app and functional.

Procedure:

Step 1

To begin, open the Alexa app and download/enable the AutoSlide skillset (available here).

Step 2

You should be directed to a login screen. Login using your AutoSlide app credentials.

Step 3

You should now see a list of your doors that are available for voice control. In order for a door to be listed it must be connected to the Internet via the AutoPlus Gateway.

Step 4

Add a checkmark to each of the doors you want to be able to control by voice. If you do not select any doors then you will not be able to finish enabling your skill.

Step 5

Press the button at the bottom to be taken to a review page. Review and confirm your selected doors.

Step 6

If you do not already have an Alexa voice profile setup you will be prompted to do so. This prevents unrecognized voices from controlling your doors.

Note that once enabled, only the owner of the Alexa account can use their voice to activate the door. If an unauthorized voice attempts to activate the AutoSlide through Alexa, it will issue an unlinked error.
