Introduction

This article details how to replace the controller or motherboard in your AutoSlide (track & pinion), MultiDrive (belt), or AutoSwing system. To perform this replacement, you will need:

  • A stool or ladder (if system is already mounted at top of door)
  • A 3mm Allen/hex key (for AutoSlide or MultiDrive only)

For AutoSlide or MultiDrive replacement, either the entire controller module (housing with motherboard inside) can be replaced or the motherboard alone can be replaced.

AutoSlide / MultiDrive - Full Controller Module Replacement

Steps to remove old controller module:

  1. Remove cover of system to access old controller module
  2. Power off system by flipping red power switch on left side of controller module to off position. All lights on the front of the controller should turn off.
  3. Prior to unplugging cables from the controller, it is highly recommended to take multiple pictures showing all cables and their corresponding ports on the controller.
  4. Carefully unplug all cables from the old controller module.
  5. Remove any hex screws at the base of the old controller module (there may be two or four screws). The old controller module will immediately come loose, exposing the module rails and screwholes. Save screws.

Steps to install new controller module:

  1. Hold the new controller module to these rails, aligning the module's screwholes with the rail screwholes as best as possible.
  2. Use the previously removed hex screws to attach the new controller module to the rails. Do not tighten screws, but ensure controller module will not fall.
  3. Following reference pictures from Step 3, plug all cables back into controller. This should include:
    • Motor cable to Motor port on left side of controller module
    • Power cable to Power port on left side of controller module
    • Backup battery cable to Battery port on left side of controller module (for extra backup battery accessory only)
    • Lock cable to Lock port on left side of controller module
    • Any hardwired sensor cables on right side of controller module
  4. For AutoSlide only: Hold cover to system and gently slide controller to the left or right to align raised mode section with cover slot.
  5. Tighten hex screws until lightly firm.

Following replacement, follow the normal steps to program your system's opening widths, settings, and any wireless accessories.

AutoSlide / MultiDrive - Motherboard Replacement

Steps to remove old motherboard:

  1. Remove cover of system to access controller module
  2. Power off system by flipping red power switch on left side of controller module to off position. All lights on the front of the controller should turn off.
  3. Locate the three plastic tabs on the back side of the controller module (this is the side most commonly facing the door panel). These tabs will be at the bottom left corner, bottom middle, and bottom right corner of the back side.
  4. Gently push in on these tabs from corner to middle to corner. The front plate of the controller housing should pop off, exposing the motherboard.
  5. Prior to unplugging cables from the motherboard, it is highly recommended to take multiple pictures showing all cables and their corresponding ports on the controller.
  6. Carefully unplug all cables from the old motherboard, with the exception of the two red wires connecting the power switch to the motherboard at the top left corner.
  7. Carefully pry the old motherboard out of the housing. This can be most easily done using a flat screwdriver at the bottom gap directly below the motherboard.
  8. Carefully unplug the power switch plug from its port at the top left corner of the old motherboard.

Steps to install new motherboard:

  1. Plug the power switch plug into the matching port on the new motherboard.
  2. Align the two grooves along the top edge of the motherboard with the perpendicular rear grooves at the inner top of the housing.
  3. Rotate the motherboard to pop it into place in the housing.
  4. Following reference pictures from Step 5, plug all cables back into controller.
  5. Align the two grooves along the top edge of the controller front plate with the perpendicular front grooves at the inner top of the housing.
  6. Rotate the front plate to pop it into place on the housing.

Following replacement, follow the normal steps to program your system's opening widths, settings, and any wireless accessories.

AutoSwing - Full Controller Module Replacement

Steps to remove old controller module:

  1. Remove cover of system to access old controller module. Pull blue plastic cover off controller (if installed).
  2. Power off system by sliding blue power switch on bottom left side of AutoSwing system to off position. All lights on the front of the controller should turn off.
  3. Prior to unplugging cables from the controller, it is highly recommended to take multiple pictures showing all cables and their corresponding ports on the controller.
  4. Carefully unplug all cables from the old controller module.
  5. Locate the two large plastic tabs on the top side of the controller module. Push in (down) on these tabs while pulling the controller down and out from the system. The controller should release.
  6. Slide cables out of clips at sides of the controller.

Steps to install new controller module:

  1. Hold the new controller module to its approximate position, and slide cables into their corresponding clips at the sides of the controller.
  2. Align the chevron-shaped tab on the bottom of the controller with the cut-out slot on the base of the AutoSwing. Push and pop the controller into place (the cables may need to be adjusted slightly to do this).
  3. Following reference pictures from Step 3, plug all cables back into controller. This should include:
    • Motor cable
    • Power cable
    • Endcap cable
    • Lock cable (if third party maglock or electric strike is being used)
    • Any hardwired sensor cables

Following replacement, follow the normal steps to program your system's opening widths, settings, and any wireless accessories.
