AutoSlide Motor Wheel Grinding On TrackUpdated 11 days ago

The AutoSlide functions by mounting a toothed track to a sliding panel and a motorized gear (wheel) to the door frame. When the track and motor wheel don't have enough physical pressure on each other or have poor engagement, the wheel can slip and grind against the track. In the majority of cases, grinding occurs when the unit is powered on and first closes the door. However it can also arise in existing installations:

  • Doors can warp with temperature change, causing parts of the track to become looser to the wheel
  • The sliding panel can sink over time, lowering the track down from the motor wheel
  • Fixings of the AutoSlide system can loosen over time, such as the screws holding the track or motor in place.

All of the above lead to a decrease in pressure between the wheel and track. Grinding can only be resolved by increasing pressure/grip between the track and motor wheel. It is not a software issue with the AutoSlide itself.

  1. First, check the condition of the track teeth and wheel teeth to confirm none are ground down or broken off.
  2. Second, check the motor is tightly mounted and the track is tightly mounted. If the motor seems loose, tighten the four motor screws holding the motor in place. Loctite Red Threadlocker can be used on these screws to permanently tighten them.

If the system is still slipping/grinding, see documentation and solutions here:

Once the system can be powered on without grinding, it is usually recommended to reprogram the system's opening width.
