Tag Activates RFID Sensor Box but Door Does Not OpenUpdated 7 months ago

If the RFID sensor box reliably activates (lights up) when a paired tag is brought within range, but does not activate the Autoslide system to open, it indicates a communication break between the sensor box and the Autoslide's motherboard. This article details some easy methods to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

1. Verify the sensor input and operating mode

All Autoslide systems have different operating modes (Auto, Hold Open, Secure, and Pet). In each of these modes, certain sensor inputs are enabled and disabled for security or by design.

If using your RFID tag set for pets, verify that:

  • The RFID sensor box is connected to the pet sensor input
  • The Autoslide system is in Pet Mode (indicated by an orange mode light)

If using your RFID tag set for people, verify that:

  • The RFID sensor box is connected to either the Inside Sensor or Outside Sensor inputs
  • The Autoslide system is in Auto/Green Mode. Note that, if the RFID sensor box is connected to the Inside Sensor input, it will also work in Secure/Red Mode.

To confirm which sensor ports on your system correspond to the Pet, Inside, or Outside inputs, please refer to the labels on the control panel of the system or see this article for more details.

2. Test the sensor port on the Autoslide system

If the sensor port the RFID sensor box is plugged into is correct, and the Autoslide is in the correct operating mode for that sensor port to work, the issue may stem from a faulty sensor port on the motherboard.

Unplug the sensor cable leading to the RFID sensor box from the sensor port in the Autoslide system, and plug this instead into any of the other neighboring sensor ports in the Autoslide. Note the corresponding LED indicator for this sensor port. Activate the tag sensor box using a tag, and observe the Autoslide system to see if the newly used sensor port's LED turns on.

  • If it does, this means the issue is due to a bad connection with the original sensor port. Attempt to plug the sensor cable back into the original sensor port, and if the issue persists, contact Autoslide support.
  • If it doesn't, proceed to section 3.

3. Test the sensor cable

The RFID tag set includes three different lengths of cable (a short sensor adaptor cable, a medium length cable, and a long extension cable). This means at least one cable should be leftover after installation. This can be used to test the sensor cables currently being used.

Unplug the sensor cable(s) currently being used at each end, and set aside. Use the leftover cable to connect the RFID sensor box to the Autoslide sensor input (note that moving the RFID sensor box closer to the Autoslide temporarily may be required).

Once this is done, activate the RFID sensor box with a tag.

  • If the corresponding sensor port on the Autoslide still doesn't activate, and the door does not open, the issue can most likely be isolated to the RFID sensor box. A different port on the RFID sensor box (there are two) can be used, but usually the RFID sensor box needs to be replaced.
  • If the corresponding sensor port on the Autoslide does activate, and the door opens, the issue is with the sensor cable. Please contact Autoslide support.
