Troubleshooting a Maglock or Electric StrikeUpdated 10 days ago
If the maglock or electric strike is not properly engaging and releasing upon activation of the AutoSwing system, it usually is due to either improper settings or a physical issue with the maglock/strike itself. For more precise troubleshooting, a voltmeter/multimeter is recommended.
Confirming Settings and Wiring
If an electric strike is being used,
- Ensure DIP switch #3 is turned on.
- If DIP switch #6 is turned on, the Autoslide app must be connected (see instructions here) and the setting "Lock With Electric Strike" turned on in the door's settings page.
- Ensure the +24V and GND wires coming out of the AutoSwing's lock harness (the yellow and green wires, respectively) are connected to your electric strike's power in and power out wires.
- If your electric strike includes jumpers for both 24V and 12V, make sure the 24VDC jumper is being used.

Common Strike Issues
If the electric strike is not releasing upon activation of the AutoSwing, the door latch may be pressing against the strike arm. To test this, retract the latch by turning the handle, then activate the door. As soon as it starts to open, pull on the strike arm. If it released, the door latch likely has too much pressure on the strike arm when closed. Adjust the strike slightly outward to relieve latch pressure.
If it doesn't release in the above test, use a voltmeter to check for a 24VDC pulse at the strike terminals during activation. No pulse suggests a wiring issue - test for a pulse directly out of the yellow and green wires of the AutoSwing's lock harness. If a pulse is present, the problem is likely with the strike itself - contact the strike manufacturer for support.
Common Maglock Issues
If the maglock is weakly locking or not locking when closed, this could be due to a spacing issue or wiring issue. Ensure the maglock's accompanying metal plate is completely parallel to the maglock surface when the door is closed, and that there is no space between the maglock surface and metal plate.
If the above spacing issues do not apply, use a voltmeter to check for a constant 24VDC at the maglock terminals while the door is closed and the AutoSwing is in Red Mode. No voltage suggests a wiring issue - test for voltage directly out of the yellow and green wires of the AutoSwing's lock harness. If voltage is present, the problem is likely with the maglock itself - contact the maglock manufacturer for support.
