When Powered On Door Doesn't Move, Settles In ModeUpdated a year ago

If, when you power the system on from a partially open position, the door does not move open or closed and the the mode lights settle into a mode, it indicates the AutoSlide is unable to physically move the door (or at least believes it is unable to physically move the door).

Common causes:

  • On iLocking systems (or on systems being upgraded to iLock), ensure the two-wire locking cable is plugged into the correct Lock port (the bottommost port on the left side of the control panel). If it is plugged into the second port from the bottom, the lock will constantly be engaged (and the motor will be unable to move).
  • Ensure there isn't a physical obstruction. Without moving the door, power the system off and try to push the door closed from the top of the panel (if the system is mounted at the bottom, push the door closed from the bottom of the panel). Do not attempt to push the door closed from the handle. Feel for any resistance; if found, attempt to find the source of the resistance.
  • Does the panel itself tilt when the system is powered on? If so, the door panel likely has too much resistance at the bottom compared to the top, causing the system to dig the panel down into the door track and bind. The drag at the bottom must be eliminated, and maintenance on the door may be required.
  • Ensure there isn't any debris in the door, and lubricate the door rollers with a silicone or aluminum based lubricant (do not use a water desiccate like WD-40).
  • Ensure DIP switch #3 is turned off in the system. DIP switch #3 should only be turned on when starting to program Pet Mode (in which case it is flipped on and immediately off).

If none of these apply, there may be an issue with motor strength.

  • Power the system off, move the door to a different spot, and try to power the system on. If it works and starts to close the door, the issue is most likely caused by a spot of high friction/resistance in the door, and the door hardware will need to be maintenanced or lubricated.
  • If you have a Standard system, ensure your door's drag resistance is within 12lbs of pull. Power the system off.
  • Turn off DIP switch #5 and turn on DIP switch #7 (or, if using the AutoSlide app, turn the Opening Force, Closing Force, and Closing End Force up to maximum settings). Power the system back on and see if it can now close.

If the AutoSlide still won't move the door at this point, there may be an internal issue with the motor. Contact AutoSlide for support.
