When Activated Door Opens Fully Then Tries To Close but Can’tUpdated 8 days ago

If your AutoSlide system, after initial programming and setup, can open the door upon activation but then:

  • Appears to try to close the door
  • Fails and reverses back open
  • Repeats this about four additional times
  • All lights start flashing and the door stays still in the open position

It indicates that there may be either a physical obstruction keeping the door from closing or a motor strength issue. This is especially the case if the system is able to program to the full opening, but can't close after opening fully during regular operation.

Try the following solutions:

  • Ensure the motor is strong enough to move the door. If a Standard motor is being used, use the included test strip or a fish/luggage scale to measure the drag weight of the door to ensure it's under 12lbs. If an Elite motor is being used, ensure the drag is under 55lbs.
  • To increase motor strength, turn on DIP switch #7 in the system. If the app is being used, increase Door Closing Force in the Door Settings.
  • Power off the system and manually open the door fully. Slowly push the door closed by pushing at the top of the panel only. This is to mimic the AutoSlide pushing the door closed. Feel for any spots of friction or resistance.
  • Ensure the door panel itself isn't dragging at the bottom of the track or catching on any debris/obstruction. Lubricate the door track (not the AutoSlide track) with a silicone or aluminum based lubricant.
  • Ensure that the motor gear of the AutoSlide is not slipping on the AutoSlide's track. If this is happening, you may be able to hear a short grinding noise at some point as the door is opening. If this is the case, refer to this article.
  • Reprogram the door for a partial opening instead of a full opening. Once complete, activate the system to open and close. If it's able to close reliably, the issue is physical; there is too much drag resistance / binding when the door reaches the fully open position.
